For any painter the different angles marked by the fall of light is a joy for the eye, even though Martin Jay would have to write about the 'disenchantment of the eye' as marking the changes of theories and perception in the 20th century. Going away from totalitarian visions, fragmentation along with Deconstructivism followed. Still Merleau-Ponty had described most likely the best the problems of perception and which still goes largely unrecognized. It was then surprising to come upon a person who had written her dissertation about Merleau-Ponty. But to come back to the architectural feature, like elsewhere in the city, somehow the churches did not impose so much as they added with a touch of humour something to the physical landscape of the city.
