Opening Ceremony
The Opening Ceremony Day is divided into three events: a formal opening ceremony for invited dignitaries; a grand outdoor event produced by the French company CPM with participation from all Rogaland' kommunes; an evening ticketed event in an 7,000 capacity winter-proof tent featuring top talent. The day overall, we hope, will be covered by NRK, who plan to produce a 'live from Stavanger' one hour feature at 9pm on January 12th.
An Open Ceremony Project Plan had been devised detailing month-to-month activities, milestones, deadlines and logistics and which was updated weekly. A basic internal plan has been circulated internally.

Project Management: Various Venues / Stavanger2008
Given the limited capacity of the Big Tent Event, Stavanger2008 is working with venues all over the city to create a 'menu' of varied events: classical music in St. Petri; DJ night in Cementen; young Norwegian bands in Folken; humour in Stavangeren etc. to provide a vibrant performance city-scape for 8pm onwards on January 12th These events will largely be self-funding by box-office.
Stavanger2008 will also work with restaurants/cafes/bars in the city centre to create special menus, outdoor food stations, themed décor etc.
Preparatory Events, January 10th and 11th
Project management: Stavanger2008, CPM, Rogaland Kommunes Cultural Leadership
Rogaland's particiating kommunes aim to present a 'prelude' of their parade performance in their locality on either 10th or 11th January. Smaller Kommunes have already teamed up, and are working together i.e.: the 7 Ryfylke kommunes, SPOR – Time, Klepp, Gesda and Ha. Each Kommune (or Kommune group) has been assigned a theme according to discussions with CPM – the themes are Light, Sounds and Rhythms; Nature, Words. Sandnes, ina ddition to performing its opening parade prelude, will use the 11th to launch its major 2008 Light Project. In September, Kommunes will decide workshop leaders, and will agree on a detailed performance plan + timetable. Performance plans have to be fully developed by then.
