Bob Scott said he travelled regularly down to London, in order to convince BBC and other news media to cover Liverpool '08 as it was deemed a success criterion if the events in Liverpool '08 attracted media attention. However, there has been less favourable media reports than what the official ones tend to suggest. In reality, there were many more hidden stories not read or heard about because the organisation managed to have a grip on the overall news coverage, so that Liverpool '08 remained in a favourable light and everyone deemed it to be a success. Mark Hughes from the Independent has, however, quite another assessment and story to tell.
