Triipoli Arcadia 2021 presents itself with a very sophisticated website with goats grazing in fields where ancient ruins can be found. Likewise the child in midst an environment which underlines a rich nature points in the direction of a door handle in need to be only touched if to find a pathway into the future. At least, this can be a first impression when seeing not the city, but a mountain range as if a bird flying above the tree line. It is always a matter of what impressions are being created at first sight while reality might differ very much from that. But in saying this, it will be of interest to what extent Tripoli can unify its concept around such an aesthetic derived from both ancient ruins and nature. It might be a common element of all Greek cities since all of them have this huge ancient heritage while the Polis was an urban based idea which could make easily forget not only the environment, but the difference between a wild and a tamed nature.
Most telling about the Tripoli-Arcadia approach to the bid is that there is featured on the website an essay by John Anton who speaks about the vision and concept being a non materialistic definition of success:
"Let me add a few words about this vision. The meaning of life, and what the Arcadian tradition entails, are not only the material goods that everyone builds. Called a cultural piece since acquired by persistent work and sweat, in order to add strength to the success of a culture in which high ideas count at least as much as the acquisition of wealth. The measure of true success lies in this, in our offer for the cultural development of society. Remember the myth of Pan. The tragopodis god gathered from the banks of the river many reeds, but instead to make many flutes created something new: the harmonization of sounds. Create something new, music. This is the message of Pan, the Arcadian god: how to transform our material assets in instruments for music in highest cultural goods, in education and political cooperation over and above the facilities brings wealth, a soul harmony."
